Cooperation for automated refinishing

Surventis and NST have signed a strategic cooperation agreement to advance the development of automated painting applications in the automotive refinish sector. The agreement formalises a collaboration that has already been established through joint testing, technical exchange and customer projects.

Over the past months, both companies have jointly evaluated how Surventis coating systems can be used on robot-based platforms from NST. The tests confirmed the compatibility of the solutions and helped to optimise key application parameters for reproducible results. Initial applications are already running in the field: several refinish and body shops, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region, are using the coating products together with the robotic systems in daily operation.

Combining process expertise and robotics

The cooperation brings together Surventis’ experience in coating technologies and application processes with NST’s expertise in robot-based painting systems and automation. The aim is to help refinish and body shops improve efficiency, consistency and process quality through automated workflows.

“Through joint testing and customer applications with NST, we have shown that our coating systems can be integrated into automated painting processes. These activities have provided valuable insights into how application performance can be optimised,” says Chen Liu, Vice President Global Technology Refinish Coatings at Surventis.

Ke Dong Bi, Chairman of the Board at NST, adds: “Our collaboration is based on the shared conviction that the future of automotive refinishing lies in the combination of advanced coating technology and intelligent automation. The agreement provides a foundation for continuous innovation and customer-oriented development.”

The agreement also establishes the framework for further testing, technical validation and future development projects.
